Playing with fire

20th February 2004 at 00:00
Chris Waterman, head of the local authority education officers association Confed, will be starring in the Amersham Martyrs community play at St Mary's Church, Old Amersham, as the dissenter William Tylesworth. He will be burnt at the stake at the end of the first act.

"I've had many kind offers of kindling from people who I used to regard as friends," Mr Waterman says. "One kind person has asked to start the fire."
