Poets cornered

15th June 2007 at 01:00
I found Helen Ward's article "Cornered on poets" (TES, June 1) very interesting. It is very disappointing to read that there is such a lack of knowledge of children's authors among primary teachers.

It was particularly sad that knowledge of picture-book authors was poor as this is the gateway to developing a love of reading for life. As the prime publication for teachers, The TES is in a fantastic position to influence this situation. How about introducing a regular series of articles on children's authors?
