One has only to look at the fate of children leaving primary school with few literacy skills to realise that an effective literacy intervention is worth its weight in gold. Reading Recovery is proven to provide accelerated learning for at least 80 per cent of the most vulnerable learners.
But isn't it about time we began to really look at how we can reduce the cost of the low literacy skills that plague one in five adults in the UK?
