Post-Ofsted glow

12th December 2008 at 00:00

Never have I slept so soundly, nor woken so full of joie de vivre. Why? Because I have just survived my first Ofsted inspection.

But cannot believe I deserved to be put through such stress to validate my teaching. At one point, I asked myself: "Shouldn't my standards always be that high?" And they could be if I worked 10 hours a day, six days a week. Then I recalled that the Queen always smells fresh paint, and my mum always hid stuff under cushions when there was a surprise knock at the door.

Those currently labouring to meet Ofsted's expectations should take heart. The feeling of having survived makes it all worthwhile. Almost.
