I HAVE to take issue with Pat Petch (TES, October 22). I am a chair of governors and if she claims to speak on my behalf, she lives under a serious delusion. My fellow governors and I have the welfare of our staff very seriously at heart.

What teachers need is governors' support. It would be nice if an education initiative were to last longer than the next issue of The TES.
