I agree with Rachel Knox's letter (TES, February 9) that the failure to award a training salary of pound;6,000 in Wales was a "ludicrous" act. I would remind her, though, that this decision was made by Labour members in the Assembly. The main opposition party Plaid Cymru, led calls for the payment to be introduced at the same time as in England. To borrow her words, it is the Labour party which "has trodden on the very people that vote for it".
