GIVEN the increasing interest in home-education, the BBC's Castaway 2000 series should prove especially interesting (TES, January 28). In their "escape from formal schooling", we may discover that the youngsters, like the thousands currently educated at home, experience how educatin is likely to develop over the coming years.

As the emerging data indicating the high levels of fulfilment of children educated at home, it is likely to be the best year of their educational life.
