THE Golden Jubilee day off for teachers anticipates an additional non-directed day, and not simply a switch of holiday dates. It will mean a reduction from 195 to 194 directed days in 20012002.

I do hope David Blunkett follows proper procedures, as I fea that it would otherwise be illegal, giving the National Union of Teachers another chance to come to our defence. Please spare us that fate.
