A group of 50 top private schools is making pound;3 million of bursaries available to former pupils affected by a fee-fixing scandal. The schools, including Eton and Winchester, were censured by the Office of Fair Trading for sharing their plans for fee rises. Up to 40,000 students could be eligible for the bursaries, awarded by the Schools Competition Act Settlement Trust. It is offering 250 bursaries of up to pound;1,500 and 200 grants of up to Pounds 500. Applicants' financial means will be taken into account.
