Privates on parade

Still bombarding schools with your CV? You might want to ponder on these recent stats before you send off the next missive. State school teachers enjoy better terms and conditions than their private- sector counterparts, according to a poll by the NASUWT. Private school teachers can expect to earn up to pound;30,999 a year, while a similarly skilled state school teacher would get around pound;32,000. Generally, state staff work fewer hours: the same poll revealed that 60 per cent of independent school teachers were expected to work outside normal hours.
