Professor to lead teaching council

THE first chairman of the new General Teaching Council for Wales is to be John Andrews, former chief executive of the Further and Higher Education Funding Councils for Wales. The 65year-old professor was a lecturer in law who became vice-principal of Aberystwyth University, and has been a school governor and chairman of a parent-teacher association.
