Some of you can't wait to get away for an Easter break. But for others, work is a holiday. No, not teachers; we're thinking of toilers in educational research.

A recent email from the bowels of London university's institute of education is revealing. "We are playing Shadow of Colossus andor Katamari Damacy in the big seminar room from 4. All welcome." Shadow of Colossus is a dreamy, beautiful Japanese computer game that involves playing a rider on horseback who travels across vast landscapes and kills giant creatures.

And the Diary has a dreamy vision of learned professors in robes bunking off to play it.
