Adele Geras was born in Jerusalem. Before her first book appeared, in 1976, she had been a singer and French teacher. She has published more than 70 books for young people including, most recently, "Troy" (shortlisted for the Whitbread Children's Book Award and "Voyage" (Barn Owl Books). "Voices from the Dolls' House" (Rockingham Press) is her first collection of poetry for adults. Earlier this year she received an Arts Council award to help her develop a second collection. She lives in Manchester
