Punished for kiss on cheek

21st July 2006 at 01:00
A vicar has resigned as a school governor after kissing a ten-year-old pupil on the cheek.

The Rev. Alan Barrett, the vicar of Tamworth, Staffordshire, kissed the girl in front of classmates and a teacher to congratulate her on her work.

Police found no offence had been committed but an informal Church inquiry said the behaviour had been "inappropriate".
