Pupils kept out of Prince's sight

A LONDON school gave 700 of its 1,000 pupils the day off to make sure a visit from Prince Andrew passed off smoothly. The Prince spent an hour opening a new pound;1.5 million wing at White Hart Lane school in Tottenham. Head David Daniels said sending pupils home was a "pragmatic decision made on safety grounds" because 200 guests were invited. There was also a need to "put the best front of the school forward". "We were trying to show off our new equipment and that would have been physically impossible with all the students on site," he said.
