Purple patch

22nd September 2000 at 01:00
HERE'S a man with too much time on his hands. Chris Waterman, genial general secretary of the Society of Education Officers is on a quest for a purple telephone. Not for him, you understand, but for Carol Adams, GTC boss, who complained that her phone didn't match her office's purple decor.

So far he's found a purple cover for a mobile (but not the ight model). Now he's having a local seamstress run up a "purple suedette mobile phone carrying case" for her.

Meanwhile, we thought he was joking when he offered a book token for the five funniest "thoughts of the day" for DFEE computers. But no, he's taken out a paid ad in this very paper inviting entries.

Chris, get back to work.
