QCA out of focus over photography;Letter

21st May 1999 at 01:00
I WISH to respond to the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority's claim that the loss of the GCSE and A-level photography syllabuses have "been generally welcomed" (TES, April 30).

The decision to remove GCSE photography was greeted with an outcry and no expert I spoke to was even aware A-level photography was under threat. The discussions referred to must have been those on GCSE by the QCA's consultative committee last year. Its report is fundamentally flawed.
