Qualified teachers on the increase

The number of people who qualified as teachers last year was up 1,335 to 26,825, according to new UK figures released this week by the Higher Education Statistics Agency. In 2001-02, more people started postgraduate teacher training (up 1,355 to 22,095) but numbers fell on undergraduate courses, down 235 to 9,790.
