Quitting saves jobs

A headteacher at a Bournemouth school praised for its academic success says he is quitting his Pounds 33,000 job to avoid making three part-time staff and one full-time teacher redundant.

Bob Nicholson, head of West Moors middle school, who was elected as a Lib Dem councillor earlier this year, has been given early retirement at the age of 50.

Area education officer Graham Case said:"This is not a trend. We are anxious that people don't think that this is the way Dorset is solving its budgetary difficulties."
