The reading minister

Jack McConnell, the Education Minister, went back to basics at the start of the Edinburgh Book Festival last Saturday when he took part in a reading and story-telling session with children and authors. It was organised by leading charity NCH Scotland.

In an article for this week's expanded TES Scotland Opinion section, Mr McConnell said that improving attainment in literacy would be one of his main objectives over the coming months. Platform, page 11
