Record-breakers vie for title

I read with interest your feature on Angela Joyce, the new principal at Peterborough Regional College ("Young principal sets the pace for leadership at the age of 35", FE Focus, August 13).

We might need to get the tape measure out. I became principal of Milton Keynes College in May 1988, aged 35 and two months - my date of birth is February 13, 1953. I had been appointed vice-principal of the college in September 1986, aged 33. I think I was the youngest general FE college principal (omitted from your published list), and depending on when Angela's birthday is I may hold the record.
