Rest assured, Ofsted feedback remains private

11th March 2011 at 00:00

Following your story "Ofsted forced to reveal survey findings" (4 March), I would like to reassure teachers that staff and student questionnaires are supplied to inspection teams in confidence, so that individual forms or comments are not disclosed to school management or the public at large.

After a teacher requested to see surveys carried out during an inspection of his school, we released general statistical data relating to responses to staff and student questionnaires.

Ofsted school inspection reports currently include a statistical breakdown of responses from parents and carers to Ofsted's questionnaires. There are no proposals to change this at present.

Patrick Leeson, Education and care director, Ofsted.
