Revenge of the beefeaters

14th January 2000 at 00:00
GETTING stuffed at Christmas is nothing new as the Scottish schools rugby team discovered when they went down 32-3 to the French at Murrayfield.

As is the fashion in this gentlemen's game, both sides retired to the George Heriot's ground at Goldenacre for a formal dinner to celebrate the Auld Alliance.

Nick Brown and Ross Finnie, minisers for the defence of the gastronomic realm, would have been proud of the fayre served up. What else but finest Scottish roast beef for the Gallic visitors, just to take the edge off the victory.

Our French friends, of course, like to abuse Brits by calling us "les ros bifs". Expect frogs' legs next time you're over there, lads.
