The right title

5th July 1996 at 01:00
Her Majesty's Inspectors of Schools in England were delighted to see their colleague, George Gill, honoured with the award of an OBE, but somewhat dismayed to read (TES, June 21) that George Gill was an inspector with the Office for Standards in Education. George was appointed and remains an HM inspector, appointed by the Queen in Privy Council.

We would be grateful if you could accord HMI their correct title.
