Sail through history

9th September 2005 at 01:00
The bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar has prompted the publication of Our Naval Heritage, a booklet for key stage 3 pupils that's full of colour pictures as varied as the history they illustrate. We move from the almost unopposed Roman and Norman invasions, and the Tudor establishment of royal ships and dockyards, through the Napoleonic wars to the arrival of steam and the arms race of the 20th century. The peaceful use of maritime power to promote trade is not forgotten. For copies, contact English Heritage Customer Services.
