Scottish Children'S Book Awards

1st February 2008 at 00:00
Schools have been mailed this week with information about the 2008 Royal Mail Awards for Scottish Children's Books, sponsored by TES Scotland.

Now in their third year, the awards are decided by thousands of children in judging panels throughout Scotland. So teachers and librarians should start thinking about how their pupils can be involved.

A panel of expert readers is in the process of selecting three books for each age group (0-7 years, 8-11 and 12-16). The shortlist will be announced on April 22, then it's over to the children. Schools can sign up on the SBT website from February 18 - sign up early and you could be eligible to receive one free copy of each shortlisted book in your age-group category.

Judging panels will have several months to discuss the contenders, and enter a review competition, before casting their votes in a nationwide ballot on November 7.
