Chris Keates, general secretary of the teachers' union NASUWT, suffered a series of mishaps with her security pass. Police feared she might be an imposter when the card would not scan so armed officers were called twice to escort her to her hotel. Similar problems affected David Miliband, former schools minister. Security staff insisted his real name was Malcolm Powers.
