Serving suggestions

The Rip-Roaring Round Book. By Clive Kempton and Alan Atkin. Southgate Pounds 11.99. - 85741 062 9.

Here are more than 50 new rounds in two, three and four parts. Most of them are straightforward enough to be taught to key stage 2 pupils without great difficulty. Not only will the children produce their own harmonies, they will attack other parts of the national curriculum too. The words briefly visit a range of subjects from maths (triangles, squares, circles and Pythagoras) and science (batteries, switches and bulbs) to history (Romans, Tudors and Victorians) and geography (moon, tides and green thoughts). Serving suggestions for each song are brief but inventive; a good way to enjoy yourself and please Gillian Shepherd too.
