In the shadow of Knox

David Alexander, Church of Scotland education convener, this week cautioned the General Assembly that any ministerial circular on religious observance may be ignored or adapted by local authorities and headteachers. To remind him of the significance of the observance wrangle, John Knox's statute cast its shadow on events at the Mound.
