The shopping list

Names: Pauline Moss, Pearl Compton and Christine Godfrey Position: Head secretary, finance manager and clerical assistant respectively at Brymore state boarding school for boys, Bridgwater, Somerset

Q If you had David Blunkett's budget what would your priority be?

A Smaller classes for all children. Our school already has good staff:pupil ratios because 20 per cent of the boys have statements and many more have special needs. Yet even smaller classes would help.

Q If you had a blank cheque for your wn schools what would you buy?

A New classrooms. Our school was a POW camp for Italian soldiers in the Second World War. The original building is now used for admin with the teaching done in "temporary" classrooms that have been here for decades.

Q What treat would you buy yourself?

A A yacht, a Caribbean holiday and an E-type Jag.

Pauline, Pearl and Christine were talking to Stephanie Northen. If you would like to publish a shopping list for education, please e-mail
