St Luke's primary pupil, Mark Burns, eight, stands proudly with the road sign he designed for outside his school in Bradford.

Linda Gibson, headteacher at St Luke's, said the design was part of a competition aimed at encouraging motorists to slow down when passing through thecity's Fagley Estate, and near the school. She said the area lay within a ring road and was a constant danger for children as cars used the estate as a short cut. The competition, run by Bradford's Road Safety Team, was open to junior children from schools in the area.
