Skateboard fitness

A council is introducing a form of skateboarding to its schools to boost interest in PE and fight rising obesity. Youngsters at every primary and secondary school in St Helens, Merseyside, will have access to Vigorboards, a skateboard that teaches balance and gives a cardiovascular workout. It was piloted at Sutton High, where it was so popular - and even helped cut truancy - that it is now on the curriculum.
