Speed reading by ear

1st July 2005 at 01:00
Devotees of the printed word may find a mild irony in the fact that Speed Reading for Success comes in the form of a 75-minute audio CD. Jaunty music and a breezy confidential presenter combine to encourage us to save time as we "scan", "skim" and "skitter" - the different techniques used for different kinds of text - our way rapidly down the page. We also get information on how the eye functions, and exercises to perform, stopwatch in hand. The method won't suit poems or novels, but could be just the thing for Qualifications and Curriculum Authority documents. Speed Reading for Success costs Pounds 14.85.
