Sport week ahead

Schools are invited to register for National School Sport Week, June 7-11. The event, sponsored by the Bank of Scotland, a partner in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is being run with sportscotland. The first National School Sport Week was created last year in England and Wales by the Youth Sport Trust, and attracted over 10,500 schools and 3 million children. Louise Mart, chair of sportscotland, said: "National School Sport Week is closely aligned to the aims of our Active Schools network and is a fantastic opportunity to increase enthusiasm for sport and physical activity." Primary and secondary schools can register online. The site also has ideas for involving the whole school, including opening and closing ceremonies and inter and intra-school competitions.
