Spotlight on Europe

24th February 1995 at 00:00
Europe will be making its presence felt in the new A-level syllabuses being unveiled by exam boards this spring for use in schools from September.

All the boards will be stressing Europe more in their compulsory papers and two boards, ULEAC and Oxford and Cambridge, are offering an optional paper on Europe.

The ULEAC optional paper will tackle issues such as federalism and supra nationality; key treaties and the impact of European Union law; EU institutions and their interrelationships; policy areas such as agriculture and monetary union; defence issues and relations with other parts of the world.
