What was the best arts company to visit your school in the past year? We've had lots, but I'd have to say Jack in the Box.
How did you hear about them? They rang us up. We've had them several times now, and whenever they ring us we jump at the chance.
How long did they spend with you? Most of the afternoon.
What did they do? There are just the two of them - one man, one woman, but a cast of hundreds, so to speak. They provide their own costumes and change hats, gloves and voices. They perform fairy tales and children's stories. Last time, it was "The Emperor's New Clothes". They bring their own sets and sound equipment, and they sing and involve the children.
Did you do any preparation beforehand? Absolutely not - this was purely for the sake of entertaining the children.
Did you do any follow-up work? The teachers got some of the younger children to paint pictures of what they remembered, that kind of thing.
What did the visit cost? Pounds 105.
Who paid? The school fund.
What was so good about them? It's not that they're particularly good actors (I'm making them sound terrible, amn't I?) but they really are terrific and what they do is just such good fun.
How relevant was it to the curriculum? Nothing whatsoever, but almost anything can relate to it.
