Stonewall praises DfES

The Department for Education and Skills is one of the best employers for gay, lesbian and bisexual people in Britain.

Lobby group Stonewall placed it joint sixth on a "corporate equality index" ranking organisations by how far they promote anti-discrimination policies.

The DfES was outshone by the British Council, the banks Citigroup and Credit Suisse, the technology giant IBM and Manchester city council.
