Stream by Samantha Harris

13th September 1996 at 01:00
I have chosen Samantha Harris's poem for its evocation of a stream as the waters of life. A lovely, subtle poem, with a careful choice of language, a sure rhythmical sense and a hauntingly beautiful last line.

Poem by Samantha Harris, aged 8, who receives Stopping for Death: Poems of Death and Loss, edited by Carol Ann Duffy. Submitted by Judith Cook at Newbridge Junior School, New Road, Portsmouth PO2 7RW, who receives the Poetry Society's teachers' newsletter. For Poetry Society events ring 0171 240 4810.
