Strike over job cuts

Northumberland college votes for strike action

Northumberland College staff have voted for strike action in response to plans to cut jobs, increase teaching hours and reduce the maximum pay for lecturers. The University and College Union said it was opposing plans to make 67 lecturers redundant, increase teaching time by nearly 10 per cent and reduce the top pay grade for lecturers to pound;27,000.
