THE Scottish Office is encouraging part-time enrolment at universities by offering students on low incomes loans of up to pound;500 for course-related costs such as books and materials. Later this year there will a new summer grant of up to pound;100 a week for students who go to university after being in care in a foster home or residential establishment.
