Run for money

Five P7 children from Miller Primary in Castlemilk, Glasgow raised more than pound;900 with a charity fun run. They designed a sponsor sheet and letters informing parents about the event. The money raised will be split between charities chosen by the youngsters.

Civic champions

West Lothian pupils have been sharing their views on how to improve their community. P6 and 7 pupils from Murrayfield, Blackburn and Our Lady of Lourdes primaries gave a presentation to the West Lothian Licensing Board on 8 April, expressing young people's views from a schools conference on how to make Blackburn a better place.

Safety first

Almost 2,000 P6 pupils from Renfrewshire took part in a community safety initiative last month. A series of workshops, from the Safe Kids programme, covered everything from internet safety to fires in the home. Renfrewshire Council, Strathclyde Police and Strathclyde Fire and Rescue provided practical demonstrations.

Green fingers

Pupils, parents and local residents undertook a range of environmental projects at Thrumster Primary's wildlife garden on 10 April. The event was organised by the Highland Council rangers as part of a programme of events for the Caithness Countryside Volunteers.
