Eco-class award

Science and engineering

- An S2 team from St Maurice's High, Cumbernauld, has won a science, engineering and technology competition that asked them to design an eco- classroom. The four boys and two girls, who beat teams from 12 schools across North and South Lanarkshire, spent months investigating and writing a report on what the room should include.

Movie makers

- Pupils from Dumbarton were able to show off filming, acting and scriptwriting skills to BBC Scotland's River City stars Pamela Byrne, Gary Lamont and Holly Jack last month at a screening of two movies created by the children. More than 50 pupils from Our Lady and Saint Patrick's High and Dumbarton Academy took part in workshops as part of a BBC outreach project.
