A DVD resource to show young people the connection between school subjects, gaining skills and applying these to jobs, has been launched by the Scottish Qualifications Authority. The Kinnect to Work DVD on employability was developed with the teachers and pupils of Hillpark Secondary in Glasgow and Newbattle Community High in Midlothian.

The Scottish Book Trust is looking for three writers aged 14-17 to participate in its Young Writers Awards. Successful applicants will be mentored by an established teen writer over a period of six months; they will also meet industry professionals. The application deadline is 31 August, 2011.
