Retired Labour MP Maria Fyfe found that she couldn't get into a course at Anniesland College because it had run out of its funding SUMS, that all-important Student Unit of Measurement, better translated as bums on seats.

How ironic that a former lecturer in trade union studies at Central College finds herself locked out of FE pro tem.
