Super(union)man

Congratulations to Hank Roberts, who was presented with a health and safety award at the Trades Union Congress this week for his work on improving school safety.

The press release announcing his triumph was issued by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, where Mr Roberts is a member of the executive. But it could equally well have been issued by the NUT or NASUWT.

Mr Roberts, a tireless promoter of a single union for teachers, is a member of all three (and, it is said, adjusts his outfits to suit the conference he is at). But the Diary wonders if the ubiquitous one has yet another string to his bow. The Yahoo Movies website lists one Hank Roberts as playing a small part in Superman Returns.
