Jotter's investigations into the recruitment of supply teachers (TimePlan, the private teacher supply agency, is possibly to open an office in Glasgow) uncorked the amazing fact that young Australasian teachers constitute 70 per cent of supply staff employed by the company in London.

More amazing still is the tale that one London council went to extraordinary lengths to mine the talents of antipodean teachers: officials flew to the Munich Beer Festival.
