SYT in New York

Scottish Youth Theatre has been invited by the Scottish Executive to premiere its new musical Geordie during Tartan Week in New York, with a special preview on April 5, the official first night performance on Tartan Day itself, April 6, and two further performances.

The stage rights for the story, of a Highland boy who overcomes adversity to become an Olympic athlete, were given to the SYT by the family of the late novelist David Walker. It has already been made into a film.

The UK premiere will be at Edinburgh Festival Theatre on April 14.
