Take pride in this pupil's protest

8th August 1997 at 01:00
I am delighted by Sarah Briggs's sophisticated method of protest about her schooling - a letter to the local press (TES, August 1).

What an improvement on the method one of my 15-year-old pupils chose to show her dissatisfaction with her schooling - "and to give the boys something to remember" - a strip outside the school gates on her last day.

Rather than castigating her, Sarah Briggs's school should be proudly acknowledging the savoir-faire it has instilled in her. It's her exclusion that is bringing her school into disrepute - not her letter.
