Teacher admits assault

2nd October 2009 at 01:00

A PE teacher has been reprimanded by the General Teaching Council for England (GTC) after she admitted assaulting a pupil. Christine Simmonds, who teaches at Chantry High School, near Worcester, accepted a police caution for battery following the incident in October 2007. The 13-year-old girl accused Ms Simmonds of pushing her into some lockers and slapping her across the face. Ms Simmonds was warned by the GTC that her behaviour had been "highly inappropriate and unacceptable", but it accepted that it had been out of character.
