Teacher in the chair

21st May 2010 at 01:00

An early-years teacher has been elected as chair of the General Teaching Council for Wales (GTCW). Angela Jardine, a teacher at Gabalfa Primary School in Cardiff, was chosen to be the council's new chair for the next two years. Ms Jardine is the first practising classroom teacher to have been elected to the position, and will take over from current chair Mal Davies in September. Her priorities will be to promote an increased awareness of the role of the GTCW and to campaign for an entitlement to high quality professional development.
